Best time for gorilla trekking in Bwindi Park: High seasons of the year are the best times for gorilla trekking in Bwindi. There are high and low seasons in the year. The best and busiest time for gorilla trekking in Bwindi is in the dry season months of June, March, October, and December. During the peak season, the paths are not slippery but remember the forest is a rainy forest.

Mountain gorilla trekking goes on throughout the year hence no special time for gorilla trekking. Some travelers like trekking in the rainy forest during the low seasons and this due to the fact that during rainy seasons, prices of accommodation are low with discounts and few people are willing to trek in the muddy and slippery trails. The wet season happens in the months of November to December and April to May. The permits are available because of few trekkers in the park.

Therefore dry season is the best climate to do gorilla trekking. But still, gorilla trekking runs throughout the year. Remember that even in dry season, it is likely to rain too therefore you need to come when well prepared with rain gadgets like waterproof boots and rain jackets.

If you want to trek in a period when there are few trekkers in the park, then wet season is the answer for you. January and February, June-July, August, September, December, are best season months where trekkers are in numbers.

During rainy seasons of March- May, October to November it is easier to trek mountain gorillas searching for food in the low elevated areas because in wet season the food is plenty for gorillas thus can be easily trekked.

More so on rain season, it will rain in the morning or afternoon or in night hours, therefore it might rain the whole day and sometimes few hours of a day. Equip yourself with nice wear of rain jackets, boots, waterproof day pack, enough water, long sleeved shirts and jeans to shield you from the nettles.

Porters are available at the headquarters and they can help you in trekking and also carry your heavy luggage. Trekking costs help in the development of the community and aiding on education. A walking stick is recommended and can be got from headquarters of the park or at the lodge. It will help you to walk through the muddy and slippery trails.
